Contract Manufacturing is Edelweiss Pharmaceuticals' primary business focus and the company has built up considerable experience since it’s inception, particularly in the field of complimentary medicines. The company manufactures a full range of cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. Manufacturing capabilities include tableting, encapsulation of hard gelatin capsules, cream and ointment manufacture, liquids and powders. Packaging capabilities include tablet and capsule packaging, cream, ointment and liquid filling, and powder filling. Blister packing is secured from Pharmaceutical Enterprises. The process is supervised by an industrial pharmacist with many years of experience as well as other qualified staff who attend to a full compliment of in-process controls and procedures. All of the manufacturing processes are governed by current GMP standards, and pharmaceutical manufacture goes under the direct control of the Medicines Control Council (MCC) (the equivalent of the American FDA). |
Edelweiss Pharmaceuticals provides a full research and development programme for creams, ointments, gels, liquids, powders and sachets, tablets and capsules. R & D is headed up by James Gibson, a pharmacist with over 12 years of experience in developing cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. The Quality Control laboratory is conducted at an MCC approved facility by an analytical chemist with 21 years of experience in pharmaceutical quality control. |

Once sample batches have been produced, further laboratory testing becomes a development consideration. Available tests include accelerated stability testing and, in the case of tablets and capsules, dissolution testing, with an option for product assay. We recommend preservative challenge testing for all liquids and semi-solids and refer these procedures to the CSIR affiliate Swift Laboratories for completion and certification. Procedures that are currently sub-contracted are HPLC and Gas Chromatography. |
Edelweiss is takes pride in her clientelle: we manufacture for Aloe Ferox, Bayer Animal Health, BASF, Prime Quest, Unique Formulations and the Two Oceans Aquarium, amongst others. Edelweiss staff are in different stages of continuing education and are encouraged to further their studies to improve the level of service that they provide. Edelweiss is also the manufacturer for Wild Olive Skin Care Products, a range aimed at mature skin. |

Edelweiss has begun international dealings in recent years and the company has become a source of valuable information for it's clientelle with respect to the legal requirements of different countries. Since this can be a particularly complicated field of expertise, we make use of our attorney who provides a niche service in this regard. We have employed visiting pharmacists from Germany for practical experience in the manufacture of complementary medicines. |
